They say the quiet ones are the most dangerous and that is exactly how people describe Mitchel. He rarely speaks, and when he does, it’s only about things that matter: work, for example, or the few pleasures he allows himself; reading under the sun, painting in the stillness of midnight. He seldom sleeps, though one might occasionally find him napping beneath the warmth of daylight.

Once, long ago, Mitchel was a loud and stubborn child. As the youngest of nine in the Oliveira family, he grew up spoiled with that freedom at least until the age of fifteen. That year, he watched his mother die brutally before his eyes, and with her, all his emotions slowly seemed to vanish. Since then, he has faced too many deaths to count, each one engraved him into the man he became: cold-blooded, ruthless, arrogant, and utterly devoid of manners toward those he deems beneath him.

He once believed in love, but eventually learned it was nothing more than a fairytale dressed in lies. Yet, when Mitchel did love, he loved unconditionally with a depth that revealed sides of him few had ever imagined. Still, those days are gone, buried beneath walls of stone, layer upon layer, built to protect himself from feeling anything again. Because what remains of Mitchel now is only the cruel, unfeeling man he has become; driven by nothing but a thirst for revenge and a claim to his family’s fortune.

♱ BACKGROUND

Love and Death

The Oliveira family is known for their immense wealth, built from casinos not only in the United States but across the world. They expanded into five-star beach resorts and exclusive clubs, businesses passed down from Mitchel’s great-grandfather, once a powerful mafia figure. Alfred Oliveira—Mitchel’s father—was a rebellious young man. Driven by greed and fear that he would be denied his inheritance, he orchestrated a coup against his own father and siblings. Ruthless and hungry for power, Alfred slaughtered his family and claimed their empire for himself.

But Alfred was more than just ruthless; he was brilliant. Under his leadership, the family business grew even larger and more successful than before. With wealth and power secured, Alfred married the woman he once loved. Together they had three children before Alfred’s lust for other women which then gave him six more child including Mitchel.

Among his wives, Alfred favored Anna, Mitchel’s mother. She and Alfred lived in the mansion, raising Mitchel with genuine love and happiness, which only fueled the jealousy of Alfred’s other wives and children. They feared Alfred would leave his fortune to Anna and Mitchel alone. During a family gathering, they conspired against them; poisoning Alfred’s food and sending him to the hospital, while brutally murdering Anna before Mitchel’s eyes.

Mitchel never forgot the screams of his mother as she begged for mercy and called his name, nor the faces of those who betrayed them. That night shattered the boy he once was. It became the moment he found his purpose: revenge and the will to dominate everything his enemies desired.

Hatred and Betrayal

After his mother’s death, Mitchel fled to the home of his childhood friend, Caroline. She and her family had always been close to his mother, and they welcomed him without hesitation. Mitchel found brief comfort there, but fate was cruel. His family or more like his enemies tracked him down once more, and he was forced to watch Caroline and her parents murdered in front of him; the girl he had once dreamed of marrying, ripped away.

The only one who saved him was Caroline’s uncle, Henry, a powerful kingpin of an organized crime syndicate with deep roots in the black market. He dealt in everything from narcotics to organ trafficking, weapons to assassinations. For the broken fifteen-year-old Mitchel, Henry became both protector and manipulator. Mitchel sank into despair, diagnosed with complex PTSD, spending months lost in sleep and silence. But when Henry finally spoke to him, it was not with comfort but with poison. He brainwashed Mitchel into seeking and remind him for a revenge against the rest of the Oliveira family, convincing him that vengeance and fortune were all he had left. But what Mitchel didn’t realize was that Henry planned to use him, grooming him as a weapon and intending to steal the Oliveira fortune for himself once Mitchel’s revenge was complete.

Too young and too broken to see the truth, Mitchel devoted himself to becoming an assassin under Henry’s command. His first kill was a nightmare, his trauma flooding back; until oxycontin; some drugs numbed his fear and sharpened his focus. For five years he killed without hesitation, burying his humanity beneath blood and smoke. He remained addicted to drugs, he needed them each time he was sent to kill a target. It was the only way to keep his focus sharp and stop the memories from breaking through.

During that time, he met Aurelia, a fellow assassin. She was intrigued by him, and Mitchel allowed himself, for once, to try love again. But as always, love ended in betrayal. But thankfully from her, Mitchel learned Henry’s true intentions; that he was only a pawn in a larger game. When Mitchel finally executed his revenge and annihilated the remaining members of his family, he turned his gun on Henry. Just before pulling the trigger, he thanked the man for everything and ended his life with a single shot to the head. Still, victory brought no peace. Once again, everyone Mitchel had ever cared for was gone, leaving behind nothing but fresh scars and deeper emptiness.

wealth and power

At twenty years old, Mitchel stood as the last heir of the Oliveira family. It was then he learned his father, Alfred, had survived the poisoning and lived hidden away in a private hospital. Mitchel brought him home, only to discover that the once-mighty patriarch was now a broken man in a wheelchair.

But Alfred was more than just ruthless; he was brilliant. Under his leadership, the family business grew even larger and more successful than before. With wealth and power secured, Alfred married the woman he once loved. Together they had three children before Alfred’s lust for other women which then gave him six more child including Mitchel.

Together they confronted their pasts. Alfred confessed that murdering his own family years ago had come back to curse him, and Mitchel realized their bloodline was drenched in betrayal and violence. Though Alfred tried to guide him in business, Mitchel felt nothing; no pride, no relief, only emptiness. He became both the heir of the Oliveira empire and the new kingpin of Henry’s crime syndicate, but none of it mattered. His heart was hollow, his soul numb.

Even so, Mitchel chose to remain by his father’s side, continuing their legacy if only because it was all he had left. But somewhere in the shadows, someone he never expected still lived; waiting, watching, and plotting to destroy him once more.
